Forty years of experience in operations and management of underground and surface coal mines. After graduation from the Colorado School of Mines, I worked my way up through various organizations, culminating in the appointment as Head of Production/Underground Mining for the BHPBilliton Mitsubishi Alliance in Queensland Australia. 

Prior to this I was a part of the original team that started and operated the highly productive and innovative San Juan Coal Mine for BHPBilliton as a brownfield project.

I have been in leadership roles with three underground mines that have obtained national and international records for production and safety. 

I have a thorough knowledge of behavioral safety programs and I am an expert in the field of Material and Fatal Risk Management.
